The Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) commission has completed the investigation into the crash of a Cessna 172 aircraft that killed three people. The information appeared on the committee’s website.
Recall that the tragedy occurred on July 10, 2024, when an aircraft conducting an excursion flight made a hard landing in the Kamsko-Ustinsky District of Tatarstan. During the flight the pilot occupied the left pilot seat. A child passenger was in the right front seat next to the pilot, and two adults were in the rear seats.
As stated in the IAC report, the pilot performed “turns” and “dips” for the passengers, as well as flights at extremely low altitudes.
On July 10, 2024, at 6:31 a.m., while performing another maneuver, the aircraft struck the ground and caught fire. The pilot and two passengers were killed, and one passenger sustained serious injuries.
Experts determined that there were no technical malfunctions in the aircraft — “the powerplant and transmission of the aircraft were operating normally up to the moment of the accident.” No traces of alcohol or narcotics were found in the pilot’s blood.
It was established that the deaths of the pilot and passengers resulted from “combined trauma in the form of blunt combined bodily injuries and thermal burns.”
According to the conclusion, the cause of the air accident was “improper actions of the pilot.” In addition, the examination concluded that the flight was conducted without the necessary aircraft documentation on board.
“The aviation accident occurred as a result of the aircraft being brought to post-critical angles of attack and into a stall regime at low altitude, which led to the aircraft colliding with the ground surface. Contributing factors most likely were: deficiencies in the aircraft operating documentation (EEVS); improper actions by the pilot upon the appearance of warning signs of an imminent stall and during the transition into a stall regime,” the report states.
