A pilot project to restore forests along the Kazanka River is starting in Tatarstan.
As part of the "Water of Russia" clean-up day, held under the national project "Environmental Well-being," the Minister of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan, Alexander Shadrikov, announced a new pilot project to reconstruct forest stands along the Kazanka River.
The project, which will start on the territory of the Urnyakskoye rural settlement of the Arsky District, is a continuation of the waterbody eco-rehabilitation work begun in 2022. The area of forest restoration works will amount to 4.18 hectares.
The primary goal of the initiative is the creation of protective water-protection forest belts along the riverbanks. This will make it possible to effectively combat diffuse pollution of water bodies caused by runoff from agricultural fields, livestock farms and industrial facilities.
The comprehensive project "Improving the Ecological Condition of Rivers and Water Bodies of the Republic of Tatarstan" has been implemented since 2022 with the support of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Russia and was developed jointly with Kazan Federal University and the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan.
