The future of cinema was discussed at Kazan Digital Week.

      As part of the strategic academic leadership program "Priority-2030" under the direction "Priority: Multidisciplinary Scientific-Educational Creative University," KazGIK participated in a large-scale discussion on the digital transformation of the film industry.

      The session "The Digital Revolution in Cinema," moderated by Nina Kochelyaeva, Head of the Department for the Development and Trialing of Film Education Methods at VGIK, and Milyausha Aituganova, Professor of the Department of Film and Television Directing at KazGIK, brought together leading film industry experts to discuss the impact of modern technologies on cinema.

      Participants noted the key advantages of technological progress: the significant lowering of barriers to entry into the industry through digitization opens up broad opportunities for young creators. Modern tools — drones, VR cameras, neural networks for color grading and animation — substantially expand filmmakers' creative possibilities. Experts paid special attention to the development of immersive technologies that create a full-sensory experience for the viewer.

      Elmira Zalyaeva, Deputy Head of the Television Information Programs Service at GTRK "Tatarstan," presented practical examples of the use of artificial intelligence in media production — from automated weather forecasts to large historical projects "Tarih" and the video series "Geroylar" — demonstrating the real capabilities of modern technologies in producing high-quality content.

      At the same time, experts highlighted the potential risks of digitization, the main one being the possible devaluation of the emotional component of cinematic art, since artificial intelligence cannot replace human intuition and feelings in creating emotional content.

      Following the discussion, participants reached a consensus: digitization is a tool that will change the creator’s arsenal but will not replace the creator themselves. The key task of contemporary cinema is to find the optimal balance in which technologies help tell stories while preserving the central role of the human being in the creative process.
