      At the recent session of the State Council of Tatarstan there was a personnel reshuffle. Deputies unanimously elected a new chair of the Committee on Social Policy. It was Alexey Sozinov, rector of the Kazan State Medical University (KGMU).

      In this post he replaced Svetlana Zakharova, who had earlier been transferred to the position of Commissioner for Children’s Rights in the republic. Sozinov’s appointment naturally raises the question of the future of the university’s leadership. At the State Council session it was not announced whether the rector would remain in the post he has officially held since 2009. However, taking all the nuances into account, one can safely say that Alexey Sozinov will leave the position of head of KGMU.
