"Tatarstan, On Your Marks!: Life Hacks from Young Tech Entrepreneurs"

The names of the winners of the All-Russian "Student Startup" competition for 2025 were recently published. By the number of submitted projects, Tatarstan is among the leaders. At KNITU-KhTI alone, 50 student startups reached the final — each author will receive one million rubles to develop their project. Inspiring examples of young technological entrepreneurs are reflected in the videos currently being shown on social networks and on leading online platforms: the republic is implementing the video project "Tatarstan, to the Start!" (timed to the Decade of Science and Technology in Russia with grant support from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation).
The heroes of the video project "Tatarstan, to the Start!" are young scientists and technological entrepreneurs — students and postgraduates of Kazan’s leading engineering universities (KNITU-KhTI, KAI and KGEU). Their selection was determined by successes in high-tech business. The heroes implement their startups in various fields: polymers and bitumens, food and biotechnology, development of new instruments, mechanisms and training programs. At the same time, each of the heroes, despite their youth, is already an accomplished individual with their own convictions, achievements and valuable life experience, and many wins in youth project competitions behind them.
Thus, Andrey Goryachev, a postgraduate of the Institute of Oil, Chemistry and Nanotechnology at KNITU-KhTI, winner of the All-Russian "Student Startup" competition and one of the heroes of the project "Tatarstan, to the Start!", recently moderated a session at the Eastern Economic Forum dedicated to the development of student business and support for young entrepreneurs. Andrey’s startup Emultechnologies involves the creation and production of a domestic emulsifier for bitumen emulsions.
Another project hero — KNITU-KhTI student and IT specialist Ranis Galizyanov — presented his IT business during the international forum Kazan Digital Week. Ranis created the platform LaunchBase.ru for finding partners to launch educational courses — on it bloggers, experts and producers find each other and then build educational projects together. "It’s a kind of Tinder in the world of infobusiness: you can go on our platform and find, for example, a producer to 'package' your course and sell it," says Ranis.
Among the project’s heroes there are many women. Yaroslava Zhukova, a student at the Institute of Polymers at KNITU-KhTI, modifies polyurethane gel to create practical and useful household products — fillers for pillows and mats.
Postgraduate Vasily Basenko from KGEU also became a winner of the student startup competition. Together with his team, he is working on creating simulation models for electrical equipment and developing motors for electric vehicles.
"We sought to show that one can and should now earn from science and technical creativity by effectively realizing one’s potential," says the idea’s author, Head of the Media Communications Department at KNITU-KhTI Vladimir Bandorin. "Our heroes share life hacks on how to prepare and package their startups, talk about the difficulties they had to face, reflect on choosing a life path and the importance of technical competencies for the future — both their own and that of our republic and country." The Zilant was chosen as the logo of the project "Tatarstan, to the Start!" — a mythical winged dragon, protector of Kazan, a symbol of wisdom, prosperity, strength and determination. Its neck is stylized with elements reminiscent of gears and microchips, traditionally associated with engineering and IT.
Since July, the "Tatarstan, to the Start!" videos have been released weekly on social networks. They are popular with users and have already received many positive reactions.
