A warehouse clerk with a logistician's soul: Elena Mineeva on precision, metal and 30 types of flowers

      On Machine-Building Workers' Day we honor the specialists whose labor and intellect create the industrial potential of Zainsk.

      She came to the plant as a young woman in 1990 after graduating from Zainsk Vocational School No. 60. By assignment she was placed in the technical control department, where her mentor was Svetlana Glazina.

      "For a young specialist it is a great happiness to meet someone who tirelessly explains the subtleties of the job," recalls Elena Mikhailovna. "Theory is one thing, and the ability to apply knowledge in practice is quite another. I was lucky to have a mentor who showed everything by her own example."

      Over time Elena Mikhailovna herself became an experienced specialist and gladly shared her knowledge with younger workers. Alongside her job she completed her education at a mechanical engineering college, honing her professional skills.

      Today Elena Mineeva works as a storekeeper for internal logistics accounting. She is responsible for receiving the metal for wheel production and monitoring its movement along the production line.

      "When you see how this fragile woman deftly handles metal blanks in a huge warehouse, you can't help but admire her professionalism," her colleagues note.

      Asked whether she considers her work too "masculine," Elena Mikhailovna confidently answers:

      "I cannot imagine myself without the plant. Yes, working with metal may seem masculine, but it requires precision and attention. I love it and would not trade it for anything."

      Outside of work Elena Mikhailovna is a caring mother and the grandmother of four grandchildren. Her passion is floriculture: more than 30 varieties of flowers grow in the garden at her home. "It's my hobby and a way to restore my strength," she confesses. Photo by the author Roza Ilaltdinova
