The village of Kyzyl-Bayrak in the Verkhneuslonsky District, associated with the name of the great Tatar composer Salikh Saydashev, is being considered as a promising tourist location in the region. From 1920 to 1940 he spent his summers here, and today this heritage is becoming the basis for the development of a cultural route. One of the key events in the village for several years has been the music festival dedicated to Saydashev’s work. It attracts the composer’s fans from across the Volga region, but representatives of the local intelligentsia are convinced the festival’s potential is much broader. They proposed to the head of the district, Evgeny Varakin, to grant the event a higher status — republican and even all-Russian. Another initiative is the creation of a museum in Kyzyl-Bayrak dedicated to Saydashev’s life and work. The head of the district supported the idea. “We will work on this issue at the republic level. I am sure this idea has serious prospects for implementation,” said Evgeny Varakin. The development of the festival and the opening of the museum are planned to be integrated into the tourist route “Volga Trail,” which already includes landmark sites of Tatarstan. Thus, Kyzyl-Bayrak could become a notable point on the republic’s cultural map, combining history, music, and tourism. Material prepared with the participation of Sergey Tolmatsky.
