      Which documents need to be updated and within what timeframes

      - Russian passport — you must obtain a new document within 90 calendar days from the date the marriage certificate is issued;

      - SNILS — data can be updated through an employer, at a Social Fund (SFR) office, or at an MFC. The insurance number will remain the same;

      - military ID — you must report the change of surname and marital status within 14 calendar days from the date the marriage certificate is issued;

      - international passport — it should be replaced within six months after the surname change;

      - driver's license and vehicle registration certificate (STS) — the old documents become invalid. Driving a vehicle with old documents may result in a warning or a fine of 500 rubles;

      - international driving permit — updated after replacing the Russian license, if necessary;

      - work record book — you need to contact your employer to have your new surname entered in the paper version. In the electronic version, changes will be made automatically;

      - property documents — this procedure is carried out at the owner's discretion.

      INN and the OMS medical insurance policy are not subject to replacement.

      You should also notify banks, management companies or homeowners' associations (TSZH), utility providers, educational institutions, and insurance companies that issued your OSAGO policy about the surname change.
