"Paid bribes to pass the exam session": a KGEU student appeared in court in Kazan
Today at the Privolzhsky Court of Kazan the charges were read out to a student of the Kazan State Power Engineering University, Marsel Almukhametov, a native of the town of Belebey. The young man was accused of giving a bribe to KGEU lecturers through an intermediary. Before the start of the trial it was known that Marsel had fully confessed his guilt. It later emerged that he had voluntarily gone to law enforcement with a confession, aided in solving the crime and identified the intermediary.
"Your Honor, the defense asks to discontinue the criminal case in view of the defendant's remorse. He [Almukhametov] himself came to the investigative authorities, wrote a confession, repented of what he had done, and also assisted the investigation in exposing other participants in the crime," the lawyer told the judge.
The investigation established that in 2022 Marsel had accumulated academic debts. It was then that Gainiev approached him, promising to help for money. According to the case materials, the student repeatedly used Gainiev's services, who acted as an intermediary in passing bribes.
According to the investigation, Marsel Almukhametov paid money to Gainiev so that he would pass it on to lecturers for credits and exams. He transferred the funds by card, paying for various subjects such as "Life Safety," "Information and Computer Technologies," "Applied Mechanics" and other disciplines. The cost of one good grade ranged from 17,000 to 25,000 rubles. In total Marsel spent more than 76,500 rubles. Thus the young man graduated from the university and received a diploma. It is unknown whether the funds were received directly by the lecturers.
After the charges were read out Marsel again stated that he admitted his guilt and was remorseful. The court decided to grant the defense's request and discontinued the criminal case.
