On October 1, 2025, the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of Russia in the Volga Federal District, Igor Komarov, introduced the government of the Republic of Bashkortostan to the new chief federal inspector. He was Alexander Okatyev, who previously held leadership positions in law enforcement agencies. The event was attended by the Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, heads of territorial federal and republican state bodies, and law enforcement and supervisory agencies.
“Alexander Leonidovich has had a successful career in the prosecutor’s offices, including six years as the head of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Russia for the Volga Federal District. Through his work he has earned the respect of colleagues and leadership, and achieved significant results in defending the interests of the citizens of the Russian Federation. I am convinced that Alexander Leonidovich’s experience, his deep knowledge of the legal and law-enforcement spheres will help in the work and will contribute to the effective implementation of the tasks set by the country’s leadership,” the envoy noted.
Igor Komarov outlined the main topics that the chief federal inspector will need to work on together with the executive authorities, including: implementation in the region of priority national projects, decrees and orders of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin; support for participants in the special military operation; addressing problems related to the environmental situation; promoting the development of the defense-industrial complex; and strengthening interethnic and interfaith stability.
“It is now important to focus on achieving the national development goals set by the President of the Russian Federation for the outlook up to 2036, including improving people’s quality of life, strengthening health and supporting the population. The situation with major repairs of apartment buildings and the resettlement of unsafe housing also requires attention. Issues related to the payment of overdue wage arrears to enterprise workers must be under constant control,” emphasized the Plenipotentiary Representative.
Igor Komarov noted that “an important direction of the chief federal inspector’s work is ensuring dialogue between the authorities and the people, and the attentive attitude of state and municipal servants to people’s appeals and requests.” The chief federal inspector is also tasked with coordinating the work of federal executive bodies, ensuring the rights and freedoms of citizens, interacting with the judiciary, regional branches of political parties and civil society institutions.
Chief federal inspector Alexander Okatyev, in turn, thanked the President’s Plenipotentiary Representative in the Volga Federal District, Igor Komarov, for the high level of trust and expressed his readiness to work actively for the benefit of the Republic of Bashkortostan: “The first and foremost task is to build work with all regional power structures in order to carry out as effectively as possible the tasks set before us by the President of Russia and the residents of the Republic of Bashkortostan.”
The Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, noted that the region continues to develop steadily despite sanction pressure: “We expect growth in industrial production volumes. Agricultural production is growing, investments are being attracted. For us today the main thing is fulfilling social obligations and the construction of new healthcare and education facilities.”
On the same day, a meeting was held between the President’s Plenipotentiary Representative in the Volga Federal District, Igor Komarov, the Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, and chief federal inspector Alexander Okatyev, during which measures to support participants in the special military operation and their family members were discussed.
