The festival is aimed at supporting creativity in Russia’s small towns and villages and preserving local traditions.
Residents of Tatarstan can take part in the XI Festival of Orthodox Culture and Traditions of Small Towns and Rural Settlements of Rus “Sofiya-2025.” Submission of works is open from October 1 to November 15, 2025, inclusive. Amateur vocal, dance and instrumental ensembles and individual performers of sacred, Russian classical and folk music from small towns and rural settlements of Russia are invited to participate. The festival is aimed at supporting creativity in Russia’s small towns and villages, preserving local traditions, developing folk culture and strengthening interregional cultural ties. The competition provides for two age categories: children (10–17 years), adults (18 years and over). Participation in all events is free of charge. Competition directions:
- Vocal (as part of a choir, ensemble, trio, duet or solo) in the nominations: “Folk Vocal,” “Academic Vocal,” “Sacred Music,” “Church Choirs”;
- Vocal in the nomination “Patriotic Bard Song” jointly with the Cultural Charitable Foundation “Club of Author’s Song ‘Gnezdo Glukharya’”;
- Playing musical instruments (as part of an orchestra, ensemble, trio, duet or solo): “Folk Instruments,” “Symphonic Instruments,” “Piano”;
- Choreography in the nomination “Choreographic Performance.”
To participate, you must fill out an application on the website of the Charitable Fund for the Revival of the Culture and Traditions of Small Towns of Rus and attach a video. The festival is held with the support of the Federation Council Committee on Agricultural and Food Policy and Natural Resource Use.
