A memorial alley honoring heroes of different generations has opened in Aksarino.

      A profoundly symbolic event for all its residents took place in the village of Aksarino.

      On October 2 an Alley of Remembrance was created here in honor of fellow countrymen-heroes of different generations. Forty blue spruces were planted in memory of the soldiers who fell on the battlefields of the Great Patriotic War and of contemporaries who died in the special military operation. This action linked several eras together, emphasizing the unbroken thread of popular memory.

      The Shavaliev family tradition: from the Victory apple orchards to an evergreen alley

      The idea to create the new Alley of Remembrance belongs to honored agronomist of Tatarstan Minnerifkat Shavaliev, who continued the family’s proud tradition. Exactly 70 years earlier, on October 2, 1955, his father, Shaimardan Shavaliev, then chairman of the Aksarino collective farm, established a “Garden of Memory” of apple trees in the village in honor of the 10th anniversary of the Great Victory.

      “My father was friends with the chairman of the Druzhba collective farm. Father asked him for seedlings to create a ‘Garden of Memory.’ At that time I was the Komsomol secretary. On September 29 my father sent me with Shaikhraziy Ziganshin to Menzelinsk to the nursery. On October 2 we began planting the apple trees. In ten days trees were planted across an area of five hectares,” Minnerrifkat Shavaliev recalled.

      Decades later the son repeated his father’s patriotic initiative, suggesting that the villagers plant blue spruces for the 80th anniversary of the Victory and in memory of new heroes — five Aksarino residents who died in the special military operation. The initiative was met with great support. Seedlings for the new alley were purchased with funds collected by fellow villagers.

      A common cause for eternal memory

      Everyone, from young to old, came out to plant the trees: the head of the settlement, activists, and Young Army cadets from the local school. Each tree is a symbol of life and of the eternal memory of those who fulfilled their duty to the Motherland in different historical eras.

      “We must preserve the memory of the heroes of the special military operation and of our grandfathers and grandmothers who brought us Victory in the Great Patriotic War and worked on the home front. Each planted tree is the name of every person who bravely rose to defend the Motherland. Our task is to do everything so that the memory of them is eternal,” emphasized Yuriy Gilmanov, head of the Aksarino rural settlement.

      He also noted the excellent weather and thanked everyone who responded and took part in this noble deed.

      With care for the future

      The planting was approached with full responsibility. All agrotechnical standards were observed: planting pits were prepared, drainage and fertilizers laid. Shredded tree bark was used to retain moisture and suppress weeds. To protect the young trees from winter snowfalls, a sturdy protective frame was installed around each seedling. Schoolchildren helped water the new spruces, learning in practice not only how to care for nature but also to love their small homeland.

      “This event demonstrates our respect for our history, for our heroes,” said the men who came to plant a tree.

      Thus a new, evergreen Alley of Remembrance of heroes from different generations was created in Aksarino. The blue spruces will grow, reminding present and future generations of the price of a peaceful sky and of the simple village lads who stood up to defend the Fatherland. The living memory of Aksarino, lovingly preserved by families, continues to grow.
