Kazan poet Alexandra Kashina has passed away at the age of 39.
Kazan poet Alexandra Kashina has died. She was the author of three books, a member of the Union of Writers of Tatarstan, an Honored Worker of Arts of the republic, a laureate of the All-Russian Literary Prize named after Gavriil Derzhavin and a winner of the international "Philanthropist" prize (Moscow–Geneva). She would have turned 39 on October 8, the press service of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan reports.
Despite health problems, Alexandra Kashina actively participated in numerous poetry forums. Even before reaching adulthood she received the international "Philanthropist" prize, and in 2005 she became a laureate of the republican contest "Woman of the Year" in the "Culture–Spirituality" category.
In 2011 the poet was awarded the Derzhavin Prize for the collection of poems "Looking at You." The book was also adapted into a play staged at the Kazan Theatre School by directors Yunona Kareva and Vadim Keshner.
In 2016 Alexandra Kashina was presented with an "Honorary Certificate for Contribution to Literature" from the Ministry of Culture of Tatarstan. In 2021 she was awarded the title "Honored Worker of Arts of the RT" for her significant contribution to literature, as well as for her creative and educational activities.
