      On the night of October 11, a local resident called the Menzelinsk police and reported that a woman unknown to him had punctured his car's tire with a knife. The nearest patrol arrived at the scene. The woman did not leave. When the police tried to find out from her what had happened, she began to behave erratically. The woman lunged with a knife at one of the officers. She did not respond to the officers' orders, only hurling threats. When they tried to restrain her to prevent further harm, the erratic woman again attempted to stab one of them.

      "In accordance with the law on the police, one of the officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Menzelinsky district used his service firearm," the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tatarstan said.

      The woman was shot in the leg and then taken to hospital. The police still need to determine what drove her to attack them.
