Men in the Republic of Tatarstan much more frequently marry at ages 25–29 than women. At the same time, women more often get married at ages 18–24.
In Tatarstan the main trends in entering into marriage were identified: men and women choose different ages for marriage. According to data from the Civil Registry Office of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan, the peak of marriage activity for men falls in the 25–29 age group, while women most often marry at a younger age. “The active age for entering into marriage among young people is recorded at 25–29 years. About 28% of men marry at this age. For women, the active marriage age is 18–24 years. Around 36% of Tatarstan’s female residents marry at this age,” “Tatar-inform” cites comments from representatives of the Civil Registry Office of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan.
This statistic is confirmed by the total number of marriages: by the end of 2024, 23,683 marriage records were registered in the republic. Notably, 70% of these unions were the first marriage for both partners. Such a high level of marriages and the desire of residents of the republic to start families allowed Tatarstan to become the absolute leader in the number of marriages concluded among all regions of the Volga Federal District for the year.
As previously reported by the Civil Registry Office of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan, more than 55,000 large families live in the republic. Over the past 12 years their number has doubled. The birth of fourth and subsequent children is increasing. Last year 313 sets of twins and one set of triplets were born.
Earlier it was reported that in 2024 in Kazan the number of divorces decreased by 22.6%, leaving the number of registered marriages at 4,225 records.
