Today, October 19, the All-Russian kurash competitions dedicated to the memory of R. Sh. Fardiev concluded at the Davydov Arena ice palace. For two days, the strongest athletes from four Russian regions and Tatarstan fought for victory and the title of Masters of Sport of the Russian Federation in kurash.
The winner in the 130 kg weight category was Radik Salakhov, a native of the Zainsk district. Zainsk athletes also claimed victories in other weight categories. In the overall team standings, the first place was taken by the wrestlers’ team from the Zilant sports club of Kazan, the Zainsk district team took second place, and the team of the Republic of Mari El came in third.
“We once again witnessed vivid performances and were once more convinced that the Rinat Fardiev memorial tournament is in demand; year after year the geography of its participants widens, and the wrestlers become stronger. I express my huge gratitude to everyone for their loyalty and deep respect for the national traditions of our ancestors, for cultivating, developing and perfecting kurash wrestling in their regions,” said the head of the Zainsk district, Razif Karimov, at the closing ceremony of the competition.
