      A student of Kazan boarding lyceum No. 7, Mikhail Minakov, won two gold medals at the 10th World Championship and World Tournament in traditional kung fu-wushu. The competitions were held in the Chinese city of Emeishan from October 14 to 20. The championship brought together more than 5,000 athletes from 54 countries worldwide. The Kazan native showed the best results among juniors, the Kazan Department of Education reported.

      “Winning at the world championship has been my dream since the beginning of my career; it means a great deal to me and my family. My parents always supported me and guided me on the right path; thanks to them for this opportunity,” Mikhail Minakov shared.

      In his opinion, the hardest thing was overcoming the nervousness before the start of the performance. However, the winner noted that without those feelings he would not have become a world champion. Mikhail Minakov expressed special words of gratitude to his coaches, who played an important role in the athlete’s development.

      Earlier it was reported that pupils of the sports school “Uniks-Junior,” as part of the Tatarstan national team, reached the semifinals of the Russian Championship in basketball. Kazan athletes performed successfully at the Championship of the Volga Federal District among juniors under 17.
