      AI-92 gasoline has risen in price on the exchange due to a sharp increase in demand for this grade of fuel from buyers. At the same time, AI-95 is getting cheaper because it is being offered on the exchange in quantities greater than the market needs. This was reported to Tatar‑inform by the deputy director of the Institute of National Energy, Alexander Frolov.

      “Now, when the holiday period is over, we are entering the season of low demand for motor gasoline and, as a rule, gasoline quotations begin to go down, but this year another factor is exerting a negative influence on quotations. There was a week when supply on the exchange amounted to 26–27 thousand tonnes — that is very little, but on the other hand, it is the volume that the state requires oil producers to sell. A week later, however, supply volumes began to increase. As of October 21 at 12:30 Moscow time, more than 31 thousand tonnes had been sold on the exchange. On some days 38 thousand tonnes were sold. Most likely, Russia will simply increase deliveries of AI-92 gasoline, and its price will go down,” the agency’s interlocutor said.

      He noted that as the vehicle fleet in Russia is renewed, the balance of retail market demand by gasoline types is changing: by 2020 the share of AI-95 sales had increased. The surge in demand, he said, usually occurs in summer during the holiday period: people get into their cars and go on vacation, consuming AI-95. During periods of rising demand, gas station owners went to the exchanges and bought 95 gasoline.
