Tatarstan plans to increase compensation for guardians and trustees: the Expert Council approved the relevant bill.

      A meeting of the Expert Council of the Interdepartmental Coordinating Committee on Legal Issues was held at the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Tatarstan. One of the items on the agenda was the draft law of the Republic of Tatarstan “On Amendments to Article 141.1 of the Family Code of the Republic of Tatarstan.”

      The document provides for a substantial increase in the monthly remuneration for guardians and trustees, which, according to its authors, will enhance the social protection of families, create comfortable conditions for children left without parental care, and raise the prestige of the guardianship institution in the republic.

      “Since 2013, payments to guardians and trustees have not been revised, although economic realities have changed significantly since then. We seek to support those who take on such an important and responsible duty,” the meeting noted.

      The draft law proposes to increase the amount of the monthly remuneration from 3,000 rubles to 8,641 rubles. During the meeting it was emphasized that the increase in payments will not only attract new guardians but also provide decent conditions for those who have already become foster families for children in difficult life situations.

      According to official data, as of July 2025 there are 1,788 children in foster families in Tatarstan. In 2026 it is forecast that the number of children in such families will be 1,600, of whom 230 will be children from the most vulnerable categories.

      It is expected that the additional expenditures of the republic’s budget for implementing the law in 2026 will amount to 189 million rubles.

      The draft law has been submitted to the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan in the prescribed manner.
