The Supreme Court of Tatarstan handed down a sentence to 63-year-old Elfat Sungatullin, the former leader of the organized crime group "Kinoplenka" and the gang "Ilfatey Brigade." He was sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment in a maximum-security penal colony and fined 900,000 rubles.
Sungatullin was found guilty of organizing a criminal community, banditry, attempted murder of two persons and the theft of property totaling over 2 million rubles. The crimes were committed in the 1990s and the early 2000s. After that he evaded law enforcement for 16 years and was only detained in Rostov-on-Don in November 2023. The sentence has not yet come into legal force, the Tatarstan prosecutor’s office reports.
