"An incentive for our youth": Olga Pavlova on the stars of the "Power of Russia" marathon

      The All-Russian sports marathon “Strength of Russia” became a venue in Tatarstan for meetings with legends of world sport. At a “Tatar-inform” press conference, member of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation and the republic’s marathon coordinator Olga Pavlova spoke about a series of unique events featuring celebrated champions who inspired hundreds of the republic’s young athletes. Pavlova highlighted several key events that became focal points of the marathon.

      “The most, perhaps, interesting was the master class by the great gymnasts, the Averina sisters, which took place at the Gymnastics Center in Kazan. For the young participants of the marathon it became a huge incentive to engage in sport and achieve high results,” she shared.

      No less significant were the competitions established by the famous Dynamo athletes of Tatarstan. As the coordinator reported, athletics competitions for the prizes of Olympic champion Gulnara Samitova-Galkina were held at the Yaraly athletics arena. And at the Sviaga shooting range in the Verkhneuslonsky district, trap shooting competitions were held for the prizes of Olympic silver medalist Svetlana Demina.

      In her remarks Pavlova paid particular attention to support for athletes with disabilities. As part of the marathon, a ceremony was held at the Triumph center to award the finalists of badminton competitions for people with musculoskeletal disorders.

      “Seventy-six athletes from 16 teams representing subjects of the Russian Federation, among whom were participants of the special military operation, gathered at this tournament,” she noted.

      Summing up, Olga Pavlova emphasized that the marathon went far beyond mass physical culture, becoming a large-scale event uniting elite sport, parasport and youth initiatives. Thanks to the participation of sports stars, the project was able to show young people real benchmarks for future victories.
