An exhibition titled "Path to Victory" has opened at the National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan.
Today, October 23, the opening of the exhibition "Path to Victory," dedicated to the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland, was held in the exhibition hall of the National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan. The project was created in collaboration with the National Museum and the Kazan Art College named after N. Fechin.
The exhibition includes several sections: the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, the Siege of Leningrad, the captivity of the Tatar poet Musa Jalil, and sections on the special military operation (battles for Kursk and Belgorod).
The exhibition features paintings depicting the victims of the Khatyn massacre in Belarus, the Holocaust, the besieged city of Leningrad, and domestic life during the Great Patriotic War. Contemporary books by war correspondents and fighters of the special military operation, portraits, photos with biographies of participants in the special operation, as well as trophies from the battlefields in the form of helmets, uniforms, documents, and drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are on display.
Separately, on the walls of the exhibition hall there are portraits of home-front workers and veterans of the Great Patriotic War taken by photographer Oleg Karakulov.
"I love communicating with veterans. I love filming them, photographing them. I want them to receive a piece of attention too. This way we can unite the older and younger generations. We are glad to support this cause: for 60 years the Council of Veterans of the Republic of Tatarstan has been caring for war and labor veterans, servicemen, and our internationalists," Karakulov said.
Students of the Fechin Art College exhibited plaster sculptures of soldiers.
The opening ceremony was attended by First Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan Yulia Adgamova, Deputy Minister of Finance Rasim Baksikov, Head of the Committee for Families of Warriors of the Fatherland of the Republic of Tatarstan Angelina Galimova, photographic artist Oleg Karakulov, and director of the Fechin Art College Olga Gilmutdinova.
In her speech Yulia Adgamova noted that through this exhibition people will be shown the truth about those events.
"We need to show and tell this truth. The exhibition demonstrates that only together, only through the contribution of each person, as living faces, do we achieve victory. I thank the National Library, the Fechin Art College, the Committee for Families of Warriors of the Fatherland, and participants of the special military operation for participating in the exhibition and providing exhibits," emphasized the Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan.
In addition, visitors to the exhibition will be able to see historical artifacts from the WWII era: votive lamps, kerosene lamps, clothing, furniture, telephones and old photographs, and letters.
The exhibition will run until November 30, 2025. Admission is free.
