In Tatarstan, the first teams of the Andrey Larkov Ski School were unveiled.
Today, at the Mayak sports complex, a ceremonial presentation of the first teams of the Andrey Larkov Ski Racing School took place. The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Sport of the Republic of Tatarstan Ildar Sadriev, the head of the Zelenodolsk municipal district Mikhail Afanasyev, the executive director of the Ski Racing Federation of the Republic of Tatarstan Denis Blokhin, and Honoured Master of Sports of Russia and Olympic medalist Andrey Larkov.
As part of a pilot project, two training groups were formed in spring–summer 2025. The first team, made up mainly of youngsters from Zelenodolsk, is headed by Andrey Larkov himself and Master of Sports Radik Sadetdinov. The second group, which includes promising athletes from various cities of Tatarstan and regions of Russia, is coached by Master of Sports Roman Shmelyov and Master of Sports of International Class Aliya Iksanova.
From the Ministry of Sport of the Republic of Tatarstan, Deputy Minister Ildar Sadriev participated in the presentation. He thanked the Ski Racing Federation of the Republic and the city of Zelenodolsk for their joint work: “The opening of this school would have been impossible without cooperation. We believe that the school will bear fruit — it will be possible to develop not only medalists, but also winners of various international competitions, including the Olympic Games.”
The new school occupies a special place in the republic’s system for training skiers. If the first level consists of district and city sports schools that provide basic training, the specialized Larkov School will become the next step, selecting the best athletes for skill improvement and preparation for inclusion in the Tatarstan and Russian national teams. This approach to preparing the republic’s sports reserve is in line with the goals of the State Program “Sport of Russia” of the National Projects of Russia.
During the ceremonial ceremony, Ildar Sadriev presented awards. Honoured Master of Sports of Russia and Olympic medalist Andrey Larkov was awarded the Gratitude of the Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan for achieving high sporting results. In addition, the photographer of the Ski Racing Federation of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rafkat Bildanov, was awarded the “100 Years of the Formation of the Tatar ASSR” medal.
