In Kazan, work has begun to prepare Black Lake Park for winter.

      Preparation for winter has begun at the Black Lake park in the capital of Tatarstan. This was reported by the city’s Directorate of Parks and Squares on its Telegram channel. The artificial reservoir will be drained, and then the lake basin will be cleaned of accumulated pollution and fallen leaves. The work is expected to be completed by the end of the week.

      “And already with the onset of sustained sub-zero temperatures we will begin flooding the city’s main ice rink here,” the directorate noted.

      The press service of the Kazan mayor’s office clarified that the artificial reservoir has an area of about 9,000 square meters. After it is drained and the basin mechanically cleaned, specialists will begin preparing the rink.

      Employees of the Directorate of Parks and Squares will need to check the ice-flooding equipment and hoses, install plywood protection on the wooden ramps, and lay rubber covering on the stairs and areas between the rental building and the rink.

      Then workers will carry out the repair and placement of the boards, prepare the skate rental room, install themed signage and New Year lighting. Installing the festive lighting will take at least three weeks.

      After the preparatory work is completed, a two-stage flooding of the rink will begin. First, the basin will be filled with water using hoses, and then an ice-resurfacing machine will be used to ensure a smooth ice surface.
