At Kazan airport, during customs inspection of the baggage of passengers arriving on a flight from Ashgabat, a commercial consignment of auto parts was found on three citizens of Turkmenistan. They were stopped in the "green" corridor with bulky boxes.
As the press service of Tatarstan Customs told Tatar-inform, one of the men was importing 123 car parts, the second — 32, the third — 43. All three stated that at Ashgabat airport an unknown person approached them and asked them to deliver the boxes to Kazan.
The young men’s helpfulness resulted in an administrative case against each under the article "Non-declaration or inaccurate declaration of goods." They now face a fine ranging from one-half to twice the value of the goods, with confiscation.
"We quite regularly hear similar explanations from citizens caught violating customs rules. They say, 'the goods are not mine, an unknown person just asked me to deliver them.' Therefore, to avoid trouble, every passenger must understand that the legality of moving goods across the customs border is the responsibility of the person who moved them; accordingly, the burden of administrative or criminal liability will also fall on his shoulders," warned the head of the Kazan Airport customs post of Tatarstan Customs, Maksim Verendeev.
