October 30, 2025 16:49 Society In the Nizhny Novgorod Region, more than 14,000 cases of acute respiratory viral infections were registered in the week from October 20 to 26, 2025. This was reported by the regional office of Rospotrebnadzor. The agency noted that, despite the high numbers, the incidence level decreased compared with the previous period and epidemic thresholds were not exceeded. As part of laboratory monitoring, about 13,000 people were examined during the week. Rhinoviruses and Mycoplasma were most frequently detected; cases of infection with respiratory syncytial viruses (RSV), metapneumoviruses and parainfluenza viruses were also recorded. As of October 28, classes were completely suspended at one school. Classes were partially canceled in 10 classrooms across eight schools and in 75 groups in 56 kindergartens. Epidemiologists remind residents of the region of the need to observe preventive measures: wash hands regularly, avoid contact with the sick, keep distance in public places, lead a healthy lifestyle and stay home at the first signs of illness. Special attention is being paid to influenza vaccination. Rospotrebnadzor recommends not postponing it until late autumn, when respiratory illnesses traditionally increase, and to get immunized now. Earlier, Rospotrebnadzor warned residents of the Nizhny Novgorod Region about the risk of intestinal yersiniosis — an acute infectious disease affecting the gastrointestinal tract and accompanied by symptoms of general intoxication and skin rashes.
