The Telegram messenger has implemented a new feature that will allow Russian users to log into their accounts by confirming their email address. This will become an additional, more convenient method of authorization alongside existing ones. According to users, the option to add an email address has appeared in the "Privacy" section. Now, to log into their account from another device, a user will be able to use their email address by confirming it and entering a code. This feature is available to users on mobile platforms iOS and Android, as well as in the desktop version of the application for PCs. Previously, authorization in Telegram was carried out in two main ways: using a QR code or via phone number. Earlier, Roskomnadzor denied reports of a complete blocking of the Telegram messenger on the territory of Crimea. However, the agency is applying measures to limit the service’s operation "to counteract criminal actions aimed at fraud and extortion of money, and the involvement of Russians in sabotage and terrorist activities."
