More than 3,000 applications from environmental assistants: winners of the "School Eco-Patrol" contest will be awarded in Kazan.
On November 18, a solemn awards ceremony for the winners of the "School Eco-Patrol" contest, held by the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan in support of the national project "Environmental Well-being," will take place at the Tatar State Academic Puppet Theatre "Ekiyat." For the 2024–2025 school year, assistant ecologists submitted 3,181 applications to participate in this contest.
The "School Eco-Patrol" contest has been held in Tatarstan since 2014 at the instruction of the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov. Its main goal is to involve schoolchildren in nature conservation activities and show them ways to preserve environmental objects. To participate, students only need to download the "Ya-Shkolnik" mobile app, register, and send photo and video materials documenting violations of waste handling rules in the "School Eco-Patrol" category. Each identified case earned points, and ecologists took the necessary measures to eliminate dumps.
Over 11 years, more than 51,000 unauthorized dumpsites have been identified and eliminated.
The contest is held among urban and rural general education organizations. Winners will be awarded in the following nominations:
- "Most Active Pupil" in categories: grades 1–4, grades 5–8, grades 9–11;
- "Most Active Class" in categories: grades 1–4, grades 5–8, grades 9–11;
- "Most Active School";
- "Best Municipal District / Urban Okrug."
For reference: in the 2021–2022 school year, 3,262 applications were submitted to the "School Eco-Patrol" contest. In 2022–2023 there were 7,349 applications. In the 2023–2024 school year – 3,114.
