A polytechnic college dormitory in Chelny will be renovated — the building is 42 years old.

      In Naberezhnye Chelny the dormitory of the Polytechnic College will undergo a major renovation. The facility is located on Raisa Belyaeva Avenue. 62.5 million rubles will be allocated for the work. The corresponding tender was published on the GISU RT government procurement website. The source of financing will be the republic’s budget.

      The amount will also cover the purchase of furniture, equipment and inventory. Among the works are repairs to staircases, the building plinth, and walls; installation of two ramps, fire doors, and plastic windows; flooring; interior and exterior finishing; heating; engineering networks; a video surveillance system; and more. The dormitory will provide 460 beds, shower curtains, 180 student desks, 46 washing machines and the same number of dryers, a laundry equipped with washing-extraction and drying machines, irons and even two steamers. According to the documents, there will be two new elevators in the building. An asphalt-concrete driveway of more than 3,400 sq. m and a sidewalk will also be arranged on the site. The work is planned to be completed by the end of 2026.

      The Polytechnic College dormitory has nine floors. The facility was commissioned in 1982. The educational institution’s website reports that the dormitory rooms are equipped with all the necessary furniture for normal living. Each floor has its own kitchen, showers, toilets, a washroom and storage rooms.

      Another student facility planned to be completed next year is the construction of a dormitory for the KFU branch. Two buildings will appear on Druzhby Narodov Avenue, in the area of the university’s existing dormitories. The construction of the two buildings for 1,082 places is planned to be completed ahead of schedule, in 2026 — the 400th anniversary of Naberezhnye Chelny.
