S7 Airlines has placed an order for the production of more than 100 Tu-214 passenger aircraft, which will be assembled at the Kazan Aviation Plant named after S. P. Gorbunov. This was reported by Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev during the educational marathon "Knowledge. Science," Vedomosti reports.
According to the official, the total orders from Russian carriers for domestically produced aircraft exceed 300 units. Thus, Aeroflot ordered 200 MC-21 airliners, and S7 Airlines placed an order for more than 100 Tu-214 aircraft.
The Tu-214 is a medium-range narrow-body airliner that has been produced in Kazan since 1996. In November 2024 the first flight of the updated, fully import-substituted version of the aircraft was conducted. Earlier, the Head of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, said that the republic plans to reach production of at least 20 such aircraft annually in the coming years.
