      The third terminal under construction at Kazan International Airport will serve domestic flights. This was announced today to journalists at a business breakfast with participants of the tourist business of the Republic of Tatarstan by the general director of the airport of the capital of Tatarstan, Sergey Romantsov.

      “We are building such a terminal so that passengers will be comfortable. Terminal 1A no longer meets the requirements that exist now with such passenger traffic. The appropriate areas are being constructed, and an increase in passenger traffic is, of course, expected,” he said.

      Romantsov noted that airlines are steadily increasing passenger traffic, which is also facilitated by the opening of new routes. He also clarified that the current Terminal 1A, after major repairs, will be used for international flights.

      Rais of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, in his address to the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan, instructed to complete the construction of the third terminal in 2026.

      “Air traffic is actively developing: at Kazan International Airport named after G. Tukay, construction is underway on a new terminal designed to serve 6 million passengers. This work needs to be finished next year,” he said.
