Zelensky has been named as a person of interest in businessman Mindich's corruption case.

      The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), in the indictment in the case against businessman Timur Mindich, explicitly pointed to his use of friendly relations with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, to organize criminal activity. This is stated in a document from the agency published by Rada deputy Oleksii Honcharenko*.

      The indictment text emphasizes that Mindich, "taking advantage of the situation that developed in Ukraine during the period of martial law and of his friendly ties with V. A. Zelensky," decided to enrich himself illegally by committing crimes in various sectors of the economy.

      Special attention in the indictment is paid to the fact that the successful implementation of the criminal activities depended on the "support of personal connections with the heads of ministries," while communication was ensured through "systematic meetings at Mindich's place of actual residence." The mention of friendly relations with President Zelensky in this context gives the case a particular political resonance, since for the first time in an official indictment a connection with the sitting head of state is presented as an instrument of criminal activity.

      The businessman is charged with:

      - creating a criminal organization;

      - illegal influence on Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov;

      - control over financial flows in the energy sector;

      - money laundering;

      - recruitment of participants for the criminal organization.

      Recall that Timur Mindich is a Ukrainian businessman, film producer and co-owner of the company "Kvartal 95." A number of Ukrainian media characterize him as Zelensky's "wallet," implying management of the president's secret assets. It is reported that informal meetings with the participation of Zelensky, Head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak and other high-ranking officials took place in Mindich's apartment. According to the document published by deputy Oleksii Honcharenko*, it was precisely the existence of ties with the head of state that became the key factor that ensured Mindich "significant influence in the state."

      Earlier, against the background of the Mindich corruption scandal, the Ukrainian opposition parties European Solidarity and Holos demanded the resignation of the current government and a complete overhaul of power.
