      Simple things made with care help our fighters in the zone of the special military operation

      The special military operation continues, and with it the flow of aid that the residents of Zainsk wholeheartedly provide to our valiant soldiers does not abate. The whole country has united in a single impulse — to support the defenders of the Fatherland. And the residents of the Zainsky district are making their own modest contribution to this noble cause.

      One such important initiative was the campaign to make so‑called dugout candles. An empty tin can, a piece of cardboard rolled into a tube, paraffin or wax — those are all the components of this simple but extremely useful item at the front.

      The librarian of the village of Stary Tokmak, Valentina Kiseleva, and the head of the village club, Marina Yermolaeva, actively joined this important campaign. The village activists did not stand aside either. They all put a piece of their soul and warmth into this work.

      “The production technique is very simple,” the participants explain, “but it requires care. We insert the rolled cardboard and the wick into the can and pour in melted paraffin. When the candle is lit, not only the wick burns, but all of its contents. That is why it gives so much heat and light.”

      A dugout candle is not just a source of light in field conditions. It is an opportunity for a fighter in a trench or a cold shelter to heat food, dry clothing, warm their hands. It is a small flame that reminds one of home, of the care and support of those who await their return.

      “We are doing everything we can to help our fighters at the front,” the women say. “This is our small but feasible contribution to the common cause. The main thing is that our guys in the zone of the special operation know and remember that people care for them, are waiting for them and believe in them. That we are all one big people, one country, one heart.”
