      It's time for big changes for the beloved park on Victory Boulevard in Zainsk! The trees many of us remember from childhood — maples and apple trees — have already outlived their usefulness. They are undoubtedly beautiful, but, like all living things, they age and need replacement.

      The idea to transform the park for the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory belongs to a man whose word carries particular weight on greening issues — honored agronomist of Tatarstan, respected aksakal Minnerefkat Shavaliev. In conversation he revealed an interesting detail: the apple trees growing here, which have become a symbol of the boulevard, were planted for the 30th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War, half a century ago, as a forced measure. "Originally they planned to plant spruces, but seedlings couldn't be found, and they were urgently replaced with apple trees," recalls Minnerefkat Shaimardanovich. "They, of course, bloomed beautifully, but everything has its term. The trees have aged, and for a memorial park it will be much more appropriate to have stately blue spruces — austere and elegant year-round."

      And now, as the age of many of the park's green plantings — maples and apple trees — has passed several decades, it is due for a planned renewal.

      "As part of the improvement program, the old and hazardous trees that had exhausted their resources were removed to clear space for new life. Seventy-eight young blue spruces will appear on the boulevard, and Victory Boulevard will once again be adorned with apple trees whose spring blossoms will bring joy to the townspeople. The first step has already been taken — 14 fluffy little spruces have already taken their place," says the head of the city executive committee, Natalya Pavlova, about the improvement plans for Victory Boulevard park.

      This serves several important goals at once. The new trees will not only restore the boulevard's originally intended majestic appearance, but will also become a powerful tool for improving the urban environment. They will purify the air by absorbing carbon dioxide and enriching it with oxygen, and will also create a comfortable zone for recreation and walks for residents of all generations. Thus the renewed Victory Boulevard will become an even more significant symbol — now not only of remembrance of the past, but also of care for the future, for the environment and quality of life in Zainsk.
