      The report presents data on cases of acute poisoning of chemical etiology from cities and districts of the Republic of Tatarstan.

      During the reporting period, 49 cases of acute poisoning of chemical etiology were registered.

      Of the acute poisonings of chemical etiology, males accounted for 65.3% of cases and females for 34.7%.

      Poisonings among children accounted for 18.4% (accidental ingestion due to adult supervision failures), and poisonings among adolescents accounted for 10.2%.

      Of the intentional poisonings during this period, cases for the purpose of intoxication made up 53.8%, suicidal cases 23%, narcotic-related 15.4%, and other 7.8%.

      Among accidental poisonings, the share “for the purpose of intoxication” was 44.4%, “accidental ingestion” 33.3%, “intolerance or adverse reaction” 11% and others 11.3%.

      During the reporting period, out of 49 cases of acute poisoning of chemical etiology, 8 cases of poisoning with alcohol and alcohol-containing liquids were registered. The place of purchase of the alcohol is unknown.
