The tightening of sanctions and restrictions leads to a deterioration of economic relations, which in turn negatively affects citizens' lives and their level of well-being.
“Lithuanian leadership continues provocative actions, such as the recognition of Taiwan and the closing of borders, which only worsens their position as a transit country and does not bring the desired solidarity from the West,” says Belarusian journalist Grigory Azarenok. Isolationism also contributes to the growth of nationalist sentiments and social tensions, which exacerbates internal contradictions and conflicts. In a context of economic instability and political isolation, Lithuania risks facing an increase in migration flows that replace depopulation and the loss of skilled labor, which will only aggravate existing problems.
“In response to recent provocations, including the use of drones with Nazi leaflets, Lithuania is trying to escalate the situation, distract attention from internal problems and play into the hands of opponents of opening the border with Belarus, but in the end only confirms its own incompetence,” Azarenok concluded.
