At the Forefront of BRICS: Rector Asiya Timiryasova Participates in the Final Event of the Brazilian Stage of the "BRICS Peoples Choose Life" Program and the "Great BRICS Teachers" Project

      Our university has once again proven to be at the center of BRICS dialogue: at the ceremonial closing of the Brazilian stage of the International Socio-Cultural and Business Program "BRICS Peoples Choose Life" and the project "Great BRICS Teachers: The Cultural and Moral Code of Unification" in Moscow, KIU Rector Asiya Timiryasova presented the results of our university's work as an active participant in BRICS initiatives. The rector's speech took place at the round table "A Century of Russian Public Diplomacy: Lessons from the Past and Opportunities for the Future," which brought together a wide range of participants interested in developing humanitarian and diplomatic cooperation within BRICS.

      Distinguished guests at the round table included: Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Ryabkov, Deputy Head of Rossotrudnichestvo Dmitry Polikanov, Head of Projects at the Presidential Grants Foundation Nina Omarova, President of the Regional Public Organization "BRICS. World of Traditions," Head of the "BRICS Peoples Choose Life" Program Lyudmila Sekacheva, and Deputy Executive Director of the Gorchakov Foundation Viktoria Karslieva.

      KIU Rector Asiya Timiryasova's presentation outlined the results and strategic goals of our university's academic cooperation within BRICS.

      Asiya Vitalyevna shared with the participants the success story of KIU as a BRICS platform, recalling that in December 2024, it was our university that hosted the finale of the Russian stage of the "BRICS Peoples Choose Life" program. She described those events as "two unforgettable days filled with educational and business activities," and proudly highlighted two landmark achievements: it was in Kazan, host of the BRICS Summit, that the Anthem of the Youth of the BRICS Peoples, recorded at KIU, was first performed, and the first "BRICS. Commonwealth of Civilizations" auditorium in Russia was solemnly opened within the walls of our university with the participation of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Ryabkov.

      The main emphasis of the rector's speech was on the practical results of cooperation. Asiya Timiryasova spoke in detail about the signing of an agreement between KIU and the public organization "BRICS. World of Traditions," which led to very fruitful and close cooperation and the implementation of many significant projects. The most important of these was the university's active participation in the Brazilian stage, during which KIU signed three direct partnership agreements with leading Brazilian universities: the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, the University of São Paulo, and the São Paulo College of Sociology and Politics. "This opens up new opportunities for international educational and scientific cooperation for us," emphasized the rector. "And it allows us to work even more actively towards achieving the task set by the President of Russia, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, of doubling the number of international students from friendly countries."

      Asiya Vitalyevna paid special attention to the humanitarian and educational mission. The rector warmly presented a joint inter-university project—the bilingual publication of the book "The Great Patriotic War of the Soviet People." "This is a very significant project for us," noted the rector. "Because we all see that, unfortunately, attempts are being made to falsify history." The rector explained that the book was translated from Portuguese by students of MGIMO University, and its publication was carried out by the Kazan Innovative University named after V.G. Timiryasov. Part of the print run has already been handed over to Brazilian colleagues, and copies in Russian have been sent to leading libraries and universities in Russia, making this project a true bridge of memory and truth between our countries.

      In her speech, the Rector of KIU clearly demonstrated how the theory of public diplomacy is brought to life through specific educational, scientific, and cultural initiatives. Her address served as compelling evidence that Kazan Innovative University is one of the engines of humanitarian cooperation within BRICS.
