The renovation of the ice arena at the Palace of Sports in Kazan has been completed.

      A major overhaul of the ice arena at the Sports Palace in the capital of Tatarstan has been completed. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Construction, Architecture and Housing and Communal Services of the Republic of Tatarstan.

      During the work, builders dismantled the hockey rink and the boxes, constructed a support wall, and carried out reinforcement of the boxes’ podiums and the wall of the collector channel. In addition, a new hockey dasher board was installed in the arena and a modern water treatment station was put in place.

      The Sports Palace was opened in Kazan in 1966. Until 2005 its ice arena served as the home venue of the Ak Bars hockey club. It was on this ice that in the 1997–1998 season the Kazan team won the Russian championship title for the first time.
