Residents of Tatarstan have been warned about the proper storage of New Year’s salads.
New Year holidays are a time of feasts and treats, but Rospotrebnadzor of the Republic of Tatarstan reminds residents of the region of the importance of observing storage times for holiday dishes to avoid the risk of food poisoning.
Specialists from Rospotrebnadzor of the Republic of Tatarstan have given recommendations on the optimal storage times for popular New Year appetizers: Salads without added mayonnaise are recommended to be consumed within the first 12 hours after preparation. Salads with mayonnaise are best eaten within the first 6 hours, as this dressing promotes rapid bacterial growth. Kholodets (aspic) can be stored for up to 12 hours in the refrigerator. Fried or baked poultry remains fresh for up to 36 hours provided the correct temperature storage conditions are maintained. Specialists from Rospotrebnadzor also emphasized the importance of kitchen hygiene: before cooking, hands must be washed, vegetables, fruits and greens thoroughly treated, separate kitchen utensils used for raw meat and ready-to-eat food, and expiration dates of purchased food products carefully checked. Shoppers are warned about the possible dangers of buying products from dubious retail outlets, since violation of storage conditions is one of the main causes of foodborne illness. photo: archive/Avangard
