In Kazan, the memory of the great poet Khadi Taktash was honored.

      Today marks the 125th anniversary of the birth of the classic of Tatar literature, poet and playwright Hadi Taktash. In honor of this event, the Tatar community gathered at the poet’s monument in Kazan. The event was attended by representatives of the Union of Writers of Tatarstan, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan and the G. Ibragimov Institute of Language, Literature and Art.

      Deputy Minister of Culture of Tatarstan Damir Natfullin said that many events dedicated to the poet will be held this year.

      “We begin the first day of 2026 with the anniversary of our great compatriot. This event inspires great hopes for the coming year. This year will see anniversaries of our honored figures such as Musa Jalil, Hadi Taktash, Sara Sadykova, Najip Jikhanov, Gabdulla Kariev and many others. For us this is a huge pride and a great responsibility,” he noted.

      “Hadi Taktash’s work is written in golden letters in the history of our culture. Although it is only the morning of January 1 today, many people have gathered to honor his memory. We must not forget his name and his poems. Many events dedicated to him will be organized throughout this year,” Natfullin added.

      Chairman of the Union of Writers of Tatarstan Rkail Zaydulla spoke about the multifaceted and unique nature of Hadi Taktash’s work.

      “Like many of our poets, Hadi Taktash went through a difficult life path. Unfortunately, he left this bright world too early, in his youth. If he were alive, he would have left even more wonderful works to Tatar literature and the people. As for his poetry, he became famous even before the revolution and managed to conquer the literary space. He was a rebel, a free poet. He believed that Tatar literature should be perfect in all its manifestations. He created not only poetry but also prose, which is also unique. He has works for children, journalism — he was a versatile writer and a creative personality,” Zaydulla emphasized.

      He also noted that Hadi Taktash’s work remains relevant today.

      “His works do not age, because the work of such poets cannot become outdated. He brought new ideas into literature and created his own school. When we speak of Hadi Taktash’s school, many poets who were nurtured by him can be named. His works are quickly remembered, they seem simple, but they hide deep philosophy and meaning, which is why they remain contemporary,” he said.

      At the end of the ceremony participants laid flowers at the monument of the great poet.
