      American entrepreneur Elon Musk said that his company Neuralink is moving to a new stage of development and will begin mass production of brain implants as early as 2026. His words were reported by Izvestia.

      This year the company intends not only to scale up production of brain–computer interface devices, but also to implement an optimized, almost fully automated surgical procedure for their implantation.

      As Reuters notes, the development is primarily intended to help people with serious conditions, such as spinal cord injuries. The effectiveness of the technology has already been demonstrated in practice: the first patient with an implanted chip was able, by thought alone, to move a cursor on a laptop, play video games, browse web pages and post on social media.

      Clinical trials of the implant on humans began in 2024.

      In addition to neurotechnology, Musk continues to develop robotics. Earlier, on October 24, he announced the creation of an “army” of Optimus robots within his organization. The entrepreneur emphasized the peaceful purpose of the project: the robots are intended not to take part in conflicts, but to free humanity from hard physical labor, which, Musk believes, should lead to radical changes in the global labor market.
