Rospotrebnadzor has temporarily suspended the import of Nestlé infant formula into Russia.

      Rospotrebnadzor has temporarily suspended the import into Russia of a number of Nestlé’s powdered infant formulas, the agency’s press service reported. The reason was a possible cereulide toxin found in the raw materials of an external supplier (vegetable oils).

      The agency reported that the ban covers milk-based, fermented milk and lactose-free formulas, as well as amino-acid–based therapeutic dietary formulas under the trademarks Nan 1 Optipro, Nan 2 Optipro, Nan Supreme, Nan Experpro, Nan lactose-free, PreNan, Nestogen Comfort and “Alfare amino” with production dates from April 15, 2025 to November 27, 2025.

      It was noted that the specified products are not subject to mandatory identification marking in Russia. Consumers are asked to take all available information into account when choosing infant formulas. The circulation of these products on the territory of the Russian Federation is prohibited.

      Symptoms that may occur after consuming a product with a high content of the toxin include vomiting and diarrhea within six hours. They resemble signs of food poisoning or an allergic reaction to cow’s milk proteins.

      "All necessary information on the procedure for returning the products is posted on the manufacturer's website," Rospotrebnadzor noted.
