On Christmas Eve, at St. Nicholas Cathedral, the opening of the Christmas nativity scene took place after the service.
By longstanding tradition, the nativity scene ("the cave", the birthplace of Jesus Christ) is erected by the walls of the church. The pupils of the "Nika" Sunday school presented a small festive program to the parishioners. At the event the students recited poems praising the newborn Infant Christ, performed a short skit, and sang the Christmas troparion together with those present.
