On the night of Friday, January 9, the Russian Armed Forces carried out a massive strike on critical facilities in Ukraine, using the “Oreshnik” missile, RIA Novosti reported, citing data from the Russian Ministry of Defense.
“The Russian Armed Forces delivered a massive strike with long-range, precision-guided weapons of land- and sea-based deployment, including the mobile ground-based medium-range missile system ‘Oreshnik,’” the official statement says.
The attack was a response to an attempted terrorist attack by the Kyiv regime on the residence of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, in Novgorod Oblast on December 29, 2025. Strike unmanned aerial vehicles were also used in the operation.
Earlier, the Public News Service reported that Washington had received a warning about possible negative consequences of escalating the conflict with Russia. U.S. President Donald Trump expressed confidence in Vladimir Putin’s desire for a peaceful resolution of the situation in Ukraine.
