The capital of Tatarstan ranked 72nd in the global city safety ranking for 2025, compiled by the analytical portal Numbeo. Kazan’s safety index was 69 points. The outright leader of the ranking was Abu Dhabi (UAE). Doha (Qatar) and Dubai (UAE) took second and third places, respectively. The top five also included Taipei (Taiwan) and Sharjah (UAE). Among Russian cities, Nizhny Novgorod was the highest, taking 56th position in the world. Kaliningrad ended up in 78th place, and Moscow closed out the global top 100. St. Petersburg this year is outside the top one hundred, taking 111th place. The Numbeo ranking is formed based on residents’ assessments and expert data on levels of crime, law and order, and overall safety in cities around the world.
