Russians have been warned about a new scheme for hijacking accounts on Gosuslugi.
Scammers have begun hijacking Russians' accounts on the Gosuslugi portal under the pretext of compiling lists for major repairs. This was reported by RIA Novosti citing the company Angara Security.
"Attackers are stealing accounts on the Gosuslugi portal while posing as representatives of the authorities. The new attack vector is linked to changes in housing legislation that oblige management companies to communicate with residents via digital services," the experts noted.
According to specialists, the fraudsters create fake Telegram chats allegedly on behalf of territorial government bodies and offer residents to "check the accuracy of their data" and "take part in compiling lists for major repairs in 2026." To confirm participation, citizens are asked to provide the code from the "Gosuslugi bot," which actually grants access to the account.
"Often the entire chat is created for one real victim; the other 'participants' are bots or the attackers themselves, who simulate activity and sending codes, pushing the person to make rash decisions. The calculation is that during long holidays the victim will face delays in restoring access to the account, which will give the attackers time," the company clarified.
Experts also reminded that government bodies do not create chats in messengers to discuss major repairs and other housing issues. Citizens are advised not to give confirmation codes to third parties and not to enter personal data on suspicious resources.
