In Kazan, Olivier salad has become 18% cheaper.

      According to experts' calculations, at the end of December this year the traditional New Year's Olivier salad for four people will cost residents of Kazan about 531 rubles and 50 kopecks.

      As price monitoring in one of the local stores showed, the cost of the festive dish has decreased by 18% compared with the same period last year, writes Vechernyaya Kazan. The calculation took into account products chosen for the optimal price-quality ratio, as well as items sold at discounts. The classic recipe for the salad includes eight essential ingredients: potatoes, carrots, onions, canned peas, pickled cucumbers, Doktorskaya boiled sausage, eggs and mayonnaise. The full set of these products cost 776 rubles. For comparison, in 2024 a similar set cost 1,031 rubles, and in 2023 — 775 rubles. When calculating the cost specifically for preparing the salad for four people, the final price amounted to 531 rubles, which is 118 rubles 50 kopecks, or 18.5%, less than the figure a year earlier.

      The largest price decrease was seen in the chicken eggs category, whose price has been falling for several years — four eggs are over 30% cheaper this year. Vegetables such as potatoes and onions have also fallen in price. Kamyar Baytemirov, chairman of the Association of Farmers and Peasant Households of Tatarstan, explained this trend by an excess of market supply over demand, but noted that the market situation may change by spring. Overall, the dynamics of consumer food prices in 2025 were more restrained compared with previous periods.
