According to the press service of the Rospotrebnadzor Administration for the republic, from July 7 to 13, seven cases of poisoning with alcohol and alcohol-containing liquids were recorded in Tatarstan.
In Tatarstan, 73 cases of acute chemical poisoning were registered in the past week, with every eighth victim being a child. Detailed data was released by the press service of the regional Rospotrebnadzor, drawing attention to alarming trends. Women became victims of poisoning more often than men (56% versus 44%), however, the child statistics raise particular concern. 12% of all cases involved children who, due to adult negligence, ingested dangerous substances. Another 11% of the victims were teenagers experimenting with toxic compounds. An analysis of intentional poisonings revealed a grim picture: 79% of such cases were related to attempts at intoxication, while 21% were associated with suicidal intentions. Among accidental intoxications, poisonings from bites of venomous animals lead (42%), followed by accidental ingestion of dangerous substances (14%), and cases of toxin consumption for the purpose of intoxication (19%). Specialists express particular concern over the 7 registered cases of poisoning with surrogate alcohol. This data is especially relevant during the summer season when the number of such incidents traditionally increases. Representatives of Rospotrebnadzor emphasize that most tragedies could have been avoided by adhering to basic safety measures and requirements. Specialists urge parents to be particularly attentive to the organization of storage for household chemicals and medications in their homes, as well as to regularly remind and explain to children the dangers of experimenting with unknown substances.
