       A case of rabies has been identified in a private household located in the village of Bolshoye Nurkeevo in the Sarmanovsky district of Tatarstan. Quarantine has been declared in the Sarmanovsky district of Tatarstan following the identification of a rabies case in a private household in the village of Bolshoye Nurkeevo. The head of the republic, Rustam Minnikhanov, signed the relevant order to impose restrictive measures in a 2-kilometer radius from the infection focus. The household is located at Rafikova Street, 97. Rabies is a particularly dangerous disease, fatal to both animals and humans. In this regard, a strict regime has been introduced in the quarantine zone. Access to the area is permitted only for veterinarians, staff caring for animals, outbreak responders, and local residents. Treatment, movement, and removal of animals are completely prohibited, except for those vaccinated no later than 179 days before removal. Special restrictions apply to events involving animals – fairs, exhibitions, and any other gatherings of animals susceptible to rabies are banned. It is also prohibited to skin carcasses and capture wild animals for zoos. The quarantine will last at least 60 days after the last case of the disease is eliminated – either by destroying the last infected animal or disposing of its carcass. Veterinary services urge residents to be extremely vigilant and immediately report any suspicious animal behavior. This is not the first case of rabies quarantine in Tatarstan this year. Similar measures have already been taken in 13 settlements in the republic. Earlier in the republic, with the onset of autumn, a new wave of dangerous diseases transmitted by wild animals was predicted: rabies and brucellosis.
