Tatarstan has entered the top 15 regions of Russia by the share of high-paid workers.
A study has shown that the salaries of 37.5% of the residents of the Republic of Tatarstan exceed the national average, while 7.5% earn more than twice the average salary. A new study by RIA Novosti revealed interesting data about the incomes of Russians: Tatarstan ranked 14th among regions in terms of the share of high-paid workers. Every third resident of the republic (37.5%) receives a salary above the national average, and 7.5% of employees earn more than twice the average figure for the country. These figures are particularly interesting against the backdrop of national statistics: across Russia, only 32.4% of workers can boast incomes above average. Interestingly, the gap between regions turned out to be enormous. In 19 federal subjects, salaries are consistently above average, while in 15 they do not even reach 15% of the national figure. The absolute leaders are the oil and gas regions: the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (almost 2/3 of workers with high incomes), the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug (52.7%), and Chukotka (55.1%). Experts attribute Tatarstan's success to its diversified economy – not only oil extraction is developed here, but also high-tech industries (KAMAZ, "Khimgrad"), the IT sector, and agriculture. At the same time, the republic has outperformed many industrially developed regions, including neighboring Bashkortostan (27th place). According to data from "Chalny-TV," consistently high salaries in Tatarstan are the result of sound economic policies and the presence of large employers with competitive working conditions. Notably, Moscow ranked only 9th in this rating (42.3%), yielding to not only northern regions but also the Sakhalin region. The outsiders were the republics of the North Caucasus and some regions of Central Russia, where the share of high salaries does not exceed 10-15%.
